The Veracruz Fonda & Bar is now open in Mueller, and I stopped in for a meal. It was delicious.
While there is Tex-Mex all over Austin, the menu at Veracruz Fonda & Bar is focused on traditional, authentic food from Veracruz, and other regions in Mexico, using fresh and natural ingredients.
When I went to the restaurant, I started with the Costa Azul, a frozen Margarita with Arette Tequila, Giffard Blue Curacao & Triple Sec, lime, dry sherry, and a salt rim.
The drink was paired with El Cuarteto, which included Sikil pak, refried black beans, guacamole, and peanut macha served with totopos.
And for my entree, I got Mole Enchiladas, Mole negro Veracruzano, shredded chicken, onion, queso fresco, served with rice, refried black beans, and fried sweet plantains.
The whole experience was fantastic, from the restaurant itself and its gorgeous interior and patio to the friendly staff and delicious food and drinks.
I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu.
